Qigong is a powerful system of healing and energy medicine from China. It is the art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate the life energy (qi). Qigong practice leads to better health and vitality and a tranquil state of mind.
In the past qigong was called nei gong (inner work) or dao yin (guiding energy). Today, the original ancient word for qigong is being revived: yang sheng. Yang sheng means "nurturing" (yang) "life" (sheng). This beautiful term includes not only healing exercises and meditations but also any practices that contribute to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. Nor is yang sheng restricted to personal well-being. To nurture life is to live in a way that cares for the life around us, all of nature.
The Four Gods are living embodiments of the underlying principles of The TAO (DAO) FENGSHUI. Each represents a season, a state of matter, a constellation, and a compass-direction. Those are an animal on the imagination in ancient China. Natural energy of some seeds was embodied.
1, 朱雀 Fire Bird / Sujyaku (Zhūquè by chinese) : Zhūquè is one of the four sacred beasts. Zhū means red, like fire. Zhūquè have multicolored feathers, with its body covered flame that never extinguish.
According to the five elements theory, it is the sacred beast that protects south, represented by the color red, the representative season is summer. Due to the impact of Western Phoenix , the Chinese translated that Phoenix is the same as Zhūquè.
2. 白虎 White Tiger / Byako (Báihǔ): the White Tiger is the Protector of the West, War God and God of Killing. The White Tiger wards off evil spirits, avoid disasters, pray for abundance of crops, punishing evil and promoting the good. The White Tiger also represents autumn.
3, 青龍 Azure Dragon / Seiryu (Qīnglóng) : In China, the status of dragon is much higher than their status in India, as the dragon is a sacred beast that protects the East.
According to the five elements, wood is the element for east and azure is the symbolic color, which represents spring.
with 黄龍 Kouryu (Huang Long), the Golden Dragon of the Center (also known as Wǔzhǎojīnlóng, “gold dragon with five claws”) is associated with the direction of “Center”, the changing of the seasons, gold (both the metal and the color), and the Emperor. Seryu and Koryu is the same dragon, so those are included in the same sequence.
4, 玄武 Black Tortoise / Genbu（Xuánwǔ): The Black Tortoise is a huge tortoise with a snake as its tail. The Black Tortoise was send to the Spirit World to seek guidance from ancestors and have the answers shown as marking on its shell for the mortals to comprehend. tortoise became the Protector of the North as well and represents winter
